Prop Forward Evan O Donovan was in heaven today as he scored two try’s in the third league game to leave the club in joint first after the latest round. Again played on an afternoon where the rain continued to fall from beginning to end and thank you to our supporters came out in great numbers when an afternoon by the fire would be a drier option .
It was the third league game and the team have not conceded a try yet, the tackling by backs and forwards is a tribute to them and the coaching technique being applied.
The first half of the game was well contested by both sides with the visitors having a slight advantage in the scrum. Two try’s from Michael Burke and Evan Donovan one converted by Shane Airey saw the half time score 12-6 with Christians Scoring two penalties.
The second half saw the home side increase there domination and score trys from Alex O Halloran, Evan O Donovan & Alan O Riordan with Airey converting two. The visitors got one penalty. Evan O Donovan has now scored three try’s in the opening games of the league.
Next Sunday see joint league leaders Skibbereen come to Newcastle West for the 1st round of the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup

Newcastle west 2nd team played in Gleeson League against Dingle in Listowel last Friday night under lights and won the game with a sore of 17 to 7 great to see this team doing well. Playing away to Listowel next Saturday kick off 2.30pm
Under 8s
Ncw rfc u8s had there 1st ever match against Estuary and Abbeyfeale in shannagolden on Sunday and yes they were brilliant .Well done to all the team
Under 10s
U10s had 17 players for the blitz in Estuary. We split into 2 teams and played Abbeyfeale and Estuary. Loads of tries and some super tackling. Estuary looked after everyone afterwards with treats for the kids and tea coffee for parents. Thanks to all involved
